MINUSCA project in 2015

In support of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) Project, our client Ecolog International needed to transport nearly 90 tons of food items to the hotspot of the project.

Key facts

Situation: Difficult access to destination airport Bangui M'Poko, special attention to cargo required due to its nature

Cargo: Nearly 90 tonnes of food items, including almost 50 tonnes of frozen items

Solution: Cargo charter flight on Boeing 747, consultation provided to departure airport about appropriate storage of frozen items on site

Challenge

The destination airport Bangui M’Poko International is challenging to access as it is severely under-served by scheduled air services and suffers from a lack of fuel. A further challenge that had to be addressed was the accommodation of almost 50 tonnes of frozen food items that required temperature controlled storage prior to the flight at the departure airport in Liege, Belgium.

SolutionAir Partner was able to overcome the logistical challenges and arranged a freight charter flight on a Boeing 747 directly to Bangui M’Poko International Airport to deliver the food rations. Despite the difficult equatorial conditions, the operation ran to time, ensuring that the cargo arrived at the transit site swiftly and successfully. Due to the extensive expertise and experience of our in-house freight charter specialists, we were also able to provide the required consultation about the storage of the frozen items in Belgium. Time efficiency was in the focus of our operations to ensure that the essential food supplies reach those in need as quickly as possible.
