Challenge

Typhoon Haiyan was one of the most intense tropical cyclones on record, which devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines, on November 8, 2013. Our client required transportation of a total of 600 tonnes of aid and relief cargo, including Land Cruisers, tents, shelter kits, tarpaulins and even an aircraft main deck loader, to assist with the aid effort on ground.

SolutionAir Partner chartered four Boeing 777 freighters and two Boeing 747 freighters to support the client with their transportation needs. The aircraft flew from airports in the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom to Mactan Cebu International Airport in the Philippines. The operations were carried out on the basis of a long-standing Air Partner contract to supply air charter in times of crisis, which allowed all parties to react quickly to the time-critical requirements.
