The Air Partner Group recognise the importance of developing partnerships to both our business and wider society seeking to influence positive change. We have a number of examples of how we are seeking to influence change and there is no better example than the development of our carbon offsetting programme.
Historically we have enabled our Private and Charter Jet customers to offset the carbon associated with their flight by means of an opt-in scheme, requiring customers to instruct us should they wish to offset the carbon released from their flight. The reality of the scheme however meant that only a very small proportion of our customers took up the option which we recognise as not being acceptable given the nature of our business and the global climate situation.
In response to this low uptake, we launched Phase 1 of an all-new carbon offsetting programme which shifts the emphasis and is instead an automatic enrolment scheme initially for all private jet and group charter clients. The new scheme has required considerable changes to processes and systems which calculate carbon emissions based upon the type of aircraft being chartered and the distance flown. The total amount is added to each invoice and is only removed if a customer makes such a request.
None of this would not be possible without our ongoing and important partnership with award-winning carbon reduction organisation Climate Impact Partners (CIP) who helped create the voluntary carbon market and deliver some of the largest voluntary carbon offsetting programmes in the world.
Our customers can feel confident that CIP applies a sector-leading, enhanced due diligence process to every project they support. As an award-winning profit with purpose Certified B Corporation, CIP is recognised as setting the highest standards. Values and integrity are at the heart of all it does – just as they have been since it was founded in 1997.
CIP is dedicated to tackling climate change and improving lives. It aims to make our world a climate neutral one – where everyone takes full ownership for their carbon footprint. ClimateCare is helping Air Partner to take responsibility for our impact by financing, developing and managing carbon reduction projects across the world.
Based in Oxford and Nairobi, CIP pioneered carbon finance for community development projects. Some of the largest carbon offsetting programs in the world are delivered by CIP. We have placed our trust in CIP to ensure that projects are well managed and integrated into the community and local environments.
The projects delivered by CIP are selected to provide a combination of the highest quality emission reductions while also delivering the most sustainable development impact. These are 4 key projects supported by CIP and financed in part by our customers through carbon offsetting their flights.
