Business Development Manager

The Training and Consulting division of Baines Simmons (part of Air Partner Plc) requires an experienced, results driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to join their friendly team at their Fairoaks office (GU24 8HU). You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have a track recorded of creating and developing pipelines to meet revenue targets.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development you will be an integral part of the business development and sales team. You will focus on driving sales within Consultancy and Large Programmes through the promotion of Baines Simmons products and propositions into identified markets and sectors. Working in conjunction with the Subject Matter Experts, you will ensure that Baines Simmons is seen as a trusted advisor and a market leader within Aviation Safety Management.

Please note that the office site (Fairoaks Airfield) has no public transport links so it is important that you have a full, valid UK driving licence and your own vehicle. This role will also involve national and international travel as required, so flexibility is a must.

What you will be doing:

Taking responsibility for:

- Meeting the consulting sales targets aligned to the 3-year business strategy

- Developing strategies for driving sales growth across consultancy and large programmes

- Developing & implement+ing the Consulting and Training sales processes

- Maintaining relationships with existing and prospective customers to sell the company’s products and services – that can include national and international travel as required

- Acting as a key contact for large customer accounts

- Drafting proposals/tender documents to accurately reflect the need of the client

You will also:

- Analyse existing approaches to the development of business and make changes where appropriate

- Work collaboratively with the BD Team, Programme Managers and SME’s to generate new business

- Follow the latest industry developments and stay up to date on corporate competitors including attendance at networking events to generate new leads

- Identifying sales opportunities as a result of market changes

- Forming strategic partnerships with other companies to leverage their existing networks

- Negotiating sales contracts with customers and ensuring their profitability

- Assisting to devise marketing materials/ tools to support winning of new business

- Working collaboratively with the Programme Managers to ensure the solutions meet current and future needs of the client base

- Working with the Consultants and Service Delivery Team to monitor customer satisfaction with existing clients to ensure service delivery

What we are looking for:

- Extensive experience of working within sales and business development

- A proven track record of generating new business and achieving revenue growth

- Extensive knowledge and understanding of consultancy / service sales rather than product sales

- An ambitious and target focussed individual with a drive to succeed

- A full and valid UK driving licence and a suitable vehicle for business use (or a willingness to use your allowance for this)

- An ability and willingness to travel both nationally and internationally as required for client meetings

- Strong commercial acumen

- Excellent analytical and evaluation skills

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills

- An ability to prioritise and multitask in a pressurised environment

- A highly motivated and proactive individual with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

- An ability to analyse data and identify new opportunities in external market trends

- An ability to demonstrate credibility when interacting with stakeholders at all levels

- Excellent Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
