CASE STUDIES

See why we are global experts for Oil & Gas related aviation services:

Crew movements (Charter flights)

Our Commercial Jets team recently assisted a leading vessel operator who were undertaking maintenance work on one of their ships. Air Partner flew twenty engineers from Aberdeen to Bergen, three times a week over a period of a month, using a Dornier 328 turbo prop with 31 seats. Due to the location and lack of scheduled services to meet the requirements of the customers' crew change, private charter provided a flexible solution for the client, saving time and hassle by being able to fly to their own schedule directly between the required airports.

Freight Oil & Gas transport

The freight forwarder client was very pleased to have a professional team on his side, to deal with his challenge of oil and gas equipment needing urgent uplift from the UK  to the U.S.  The cargo located in the Midlands, consisted of large crates and long pipes and was weighing in at almost 30 tonnes.  The experienced account managers of the Air Partner UK Freight department, managed to secure space on a B747 at a good rate for an aircraft to divert on the very next day,  from its usual U.S. route ex-Amsterdam into Doncaster. The aircraft landed in Doncaster airport for a short ground time whilst the 22 crates were loaded via the nose door. The freighter then arrived in Huntsville, Alabama, on the Friday afternoon and airside trucks were arranged to collect the parts straight from the aircraft in order for the client to make delivery before the weekend.

Aviation Safety Services

Baines Simmons the world leader in Aviation Safety and a company of the Air Partner Group developed and delivered of an Integrated SMS (ISMS) in partnership with an Offshore Oil & Gas Helicopter Operator. The aviation department of a major offshore oil and gas helicopter operator engaged Baines Simmons to assist them in enhancing and improving their existing Safety Management System, thereby creating a world-class Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) that covered all operations at their airport base. The 18-week project was successfully completed within agreed timescales and with agreed measurable deliverables. Read more

Emergency Evacuation

When trouble flared in Libya, all normal communications and aviation practices broke down. Aircraft, crews and their insurance companies were reluctant to provide cover to operate there; and obtaining authorisation for aircraft to enter Libyan airspace, land and leave was extremely difficult and time-consuming. Despite this, Air Partner operated a dozen Libya rescue flights into the UK, several on behalf of the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), and organised another into France. Large Boeing and Airbus jets, with a total of 2,200 seats, were used to transport passengers of various nationalities. Seven of the flights operated into and out of Tripoli, including the first two rescue missions to the UK carried out for a big oil & gas company and another major oil conglomerate seeking to safeguard their overseas employees. The other flights operated to Malta to repatriate people who had fled from Libya to the conflict-free island.
