A cello worth more than $2 million, plus a whole host of orchestral instruments valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars, arrived undamaged and on time when Air Partner stepped in to save the Jersey Proms when, during a six-week tightening of security measures, airlines refused to fly any musical instruments – even if they had their own paid-for seat.

When a rock group staged an in-flight concert onboard a VIP Boeing 757 using battery-powered amplifiers and the aircraft’s PA system, the transatlantic charter was described as ground-breaking. Air Partner saw it as just another flight, as they did for a disco-dancing party they arranged at 35,000 feet later the same year.
